YOUR FIRST SESSION AT PSL PILATES

FIRST TIME DOING PILATES?

If you have never done Pilates before, you will be working on the apparatus. You do not need to be flexible! Don't be intimidated by the equipment - and try not to be hard on yourself as well! Slowly absorb the instructor's cues, while feeling the work in your body. Ask questions if you don't understand something - we're more than happy to clarify. And, if an exercise hurts or is uncomfortable, tell your instructor right away!

 

WHAT TO WEAR

There are a few things to consider when you dress for a Pilates workout. First, make sure your clothes give enough to let you move and stretch fully. Your instructor will need to be able to see your body well enough to see the alignment of you bones and how your muscles are engaging, so while loose is OK, baggy is not. You will also want to avoid baggy clothes because some Pilates exercises could be a bit revealing if your clothes are too loose. Pilates is usually done barefoot, so no fancy footwear are needed!

Keep it simple, keep it comfortable!

 

Avoid wearing accessories such as long necklaces, belts and dangling bracelets while working out. These items are not only distracting, but could be dangerous if they get caught up in the equipment. Also, it's best if your hair is out of the face and tied back if long.

 

NOTE: Many people are sensitive to perfumes and strongly scented deodorants, so please refrain from wearing strong scents to your appointment!

 

WHEN TO ARRIVE

Please arrive at least five minutes before the beginning of your appointment. During your first appointment with us, you will be asked to fill out a client questionnaire to help us better serve your needs, as well as to sign a waiver which specifies our studio and cancellation policies.
